This is definitely cool.
I wonder about the possibilities of getting together some sort of map of the city's remaining phonebooths.
ha- you would
dig this... http://www.payphone-project.com/gallery/New_York
used to have a more comprehensive list when it was more nyc-oriented, but im sure it, like just about every other site of its variety, hasnt been updated sine last century, so...
there are very few left. i particularly like the classic-shaped free-standing glass one at 97th and west end, and hte oldskool wooden ones in the brooklyn public library at GAP...
Oh wow, I saw the one in the library in Brooklyn ages ago and had resolved to go back with a camera, and then totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder!
Phone booths were awesome. I miss them terribly.
ahh! i have photos of the library booths in my iphoto library at home.... ill comment them to you here when i get home today :)
Nice find, I need to post my Red Pay Phone picture soon.
Hay, there is an idea for the next meeting. Lets go on a sight seeing tour after Around The Clock/MUD of the remaining pay phones in NYC! :3
